When you go to the market, it's the survival of the fittest. It's not about using coupons or shopping for the bargain...it's about reading the labels and becoming an ingredient sleuth. But still you wonder about the price tag, right? Many people have families and children, and can't fathom buying groceries without coupons or two-for-one deals. Let's start with what you are buying? What do you really need? Do you really need to spring for that 12-pack of soda? Trade off the soda with a healthy snack perhaps. Stick to purchasing fresh vegetables instead of potato chips and sweets. If you have a larger family or on a budget, buy frozen vegetables instead. There are many ways to trade-off.
I went to the market the other day and saved money just by bringing my own bags.
I begin the market journey in the produce aisle. The deli section comes next, if you wish. The bread aisle can be daunting at first, but when you know the bread to grab, it becomes second nature. Hint: Look for Organic bread or even Martin's bread. Neither have high fructose corn syrup in them. HFCS, despite those commercials siding with HFCS, is not good. It is metabolized differently in the body than sugar. As it accumulates in the body, it can give you a fatty liver as well.
The same goes for the deodorant aisle, this can be overwhelming with all the different brands, but find the one without antiperspirant. Hint: Crystal Rock, or Tom's. Both are very good. Those two brands will get you started as you become more aware of other brands. Why go away from antiperspirant? For one thing, it inhibits your sweat from being released. This can build up the toxins and free radicals thus making you susceptible to breast cancer. Doctors are advising breast cancer survivors NOT to buy the antiperspirant deodorants - so why not start using these deodorants before you get the breast cancer?!!??!!??
There are three aisles that I can safely eliminate from my market adventure: soda, pet food, potato chip aisles.
Some have pets, and can't avoid it, but if not, then you can also eliminate those same three!
Once you move on from those specific foods like soda or chips and you can walk past the soda aisle, it feels so liberating not to dip into the aisle --and your stomach and wallet will appreciate it too!!
Next time you step into the market circus please think, plot, and act.
