Seriously, it's amazing! I am driving along in afternoon mid-week traffic wondering why there is so many cars! How did this world accumulate so many people?
Think about this one...in every town, there are at least 100+ cars on the road - in motion. Where are they all going? And why are they in such a hurry? Every driver out there is in a hurry to just GO. Where is it that these people go that requires this much haste?
We need to chill a bit. We need to take time out from being in such a rush. Slow down - because if we don't, then we are only in a hurry to lie in a coffin 6-feet under.
- Smile and look up at the sky at night. Really LOOK at the stars
- Take in a deep breath as you look at the stars
- Consider: Life has always moved on without the rush-rush of your activity...so what is really your hurry?
- Take a moment and consider where you are in your present - that's exactly where you are supposed to be
Don't be so influenced by those crazed drivers on the road - it's their arteries hardening, not yours!
The Today Show was discussing Phobias and how to face them. They said that more women have phobias than men, but this could be because more women are apt to admit their fears; whereas men stuff their fears aloing with any other issue because men are supposed to 'be men' and 'be strong.'
Here's the deal on phobias...
Somewhere in your life you put all your fear on one particular object or animal or insect or activity.
Sometimes it's not necessarily the phobia of that object but the fact that it is easier to put all your fear into one particular thing. You don't know how to deal with the fear at hand so you compartmentalize all your fear into one thing (and in some cases a few things).
The best way to get over a phobia is to be in a relaxed state with someone you love and trust. Then, have someone else who you love and trust bring out the fear you have, in a safe non-threatening way. Whether it is caged, a photo, or a video. This way it can't actually hurt you. Know that it can't hurt you in this way and become acquainted with it in this sort of environment.
Being present and breathing is also key to facing your fear -Not going backward in your thoughts and thinking of past experiences.
Meditation is more than just taking in breaths. It is an awareness of consciousness.
It is the act of deep relaxation.
Deep breathing.
In
Out
Being in touch and being in control of your body on a deeper consciousness.
There is nothing to fear when you know yourself and love yourself. Don't be afraid of yourself.
But, yes, before you realize any of this and before you even begin to practice meditation, phobias can be VERY scary. You will get over it when you get over yourself.
We are always a work in progress. There is nothing shameful in that.
